Storm Light

Storm Light

Have you ever felt overwhelmed and discouraged in the storms of life? Have you ever struggled to see the light or acknowledge it, even if it's right in front of you? If so, take courage my friend. If you are willing to brave the wind, rain and crashing waves of life you will have the opportunity to soak up moments of beauty. Even in the storms of life there are beautiful moments and lessons that can stay with you for life. Maybe, even move you in a new direction. When you are cold, tired, frustrated and struggling to see life above the waves that keep crashing on you, hold on! Keep swimming, keep fighting. Storms will pass and light will break through the clouds to shine on you. The above thoughts have been my experience in several areas of life. Even when I was creating this image, I felt like giving up at times. I was cold, wet and shivering from a passing rain shower. The salty air was blowing on me and my gear without ceasing. I was hungry and thirsty. I really wanted a break and soon I got one. But this break was different than what I was focusing on presently. It was one that I had been hoping for when I went on my adventure, but one that I almost completely lost sight of and gave up on. I was rewarded when the light began to break through the clouds of the passing storm. The light streamed down through the clouds and began falling on the crashing waves right in front of me. Fortunately, the liquid and the light all came together at the right time and danced in front of my lens. It was still sprinkling on me when I captured this image, but the sunlight began to take away the wet chill I was feeling and warm me up inside. Just like the sunlights interaction and dance on and through the wave, it was doing the same thing to my spirit. When I saw the light reflecting and penetrating the wave, bringing out color that was always present, but not illuminated, my spirit was reenergized. Even though there was still rain falling and dark skies in the background it didn't matter. In fact, I begin to celebrate the darkness in the background because it only highlighted and brought focus to what the light was accomplishing right in front of me. Sometimes, we are so focused on the darkness and negativity, we are blinded and not able to celebrate the light right in front of us or around us. I realized, that the light is always stronger, more powerful, than the absence of light. In all areas of my life, spiritually, mentally, physically, emotionally and socially, I have to choose daily to focus on the light and not the darkness. I choose to surrender to and seek after light and not darkness. For me, the light in my life is found in many ways. Capturing light in this world with my camera, exploring nature, serving others, spending time with my living family are all areas I am blessed to find light. But the most important area, the one that affects all other areas, is the light of Jesus Christ, my personal Savior and friend. I encourage you to seek after His Light, not matter the storms in your life. You will be amazed!

#1Quite stunning. I love the coast I will always say the perfect location for me to live would be where the mountains meet the ocean.
