Keeper of the Island

I love Botswana. I have only been to the area around Chobe National Park and the Chobe River. The country of Namibia lies at my back as I sit in the small safari boat on the river watching herds of elephants enjoying the river life at the end of another day. As the sun sinks into the west it creates a soft, colorful palette across the landscape. I think to myself, I need to visit and explore Namibia too. The elephant in this image walks over towards two other elephants and they engage in a territorial or dominance dispute/display. After some pushing and shoving they go back to grazing in the tall, verdant grass that is present on these small river islands. As the grazing resumes, our safari guide and boat captain starts the motor and we slowly back into deeper waters and make our way back to our lodge. It has been another good day in Botswana.
