Mist Covered Mountains

Mist Covered Mountains

The strong side lighting from the afternoon sun highlights the salty mist along Na Pali and creates a magical scene before me. I love how the mist hangs in the air, clinging to the cliffs, providing a beautiful contrast to the deep, dark valleys of this amazing stretch of land. As the large surf continued to pound against the cliffs, fresh, salty mist would rise off the waves, lifted up by the trade winds, hang in the air and fall quietly back to the ocean. There was constant change taking place right before me. Waves dance together at the feet of rocky cliffs. Rising up and falling down. Seeming to enjoy a moment in time together before another takes its place. The mist joined in the same, enchanting dance as the winds push them up the steep, knifed edges of Na Pali. Both were highlighted by the warm rays of light falling across the scene. The same mist and the same light also fell on me. Wrapping its self around my body, warming my soul and lifting my spirits. I live for those moments that one can embrace and also feel that embrace in return.

If you choose to explore this amazing island, be like the mist. Get close to the land, embrace and cling to its beauty. Soak up the moments you share with others. Allow the sun to warm your soul, lifting your spirit so you can be a light of encouragement to others. Then let the gentle trade winds move you along to new adventures, knowing others will rise up to fill the space that filled you. Leave each place better than you found it and only taking the memories with you.

Mahalo for allowing me to share with you a few of the moments that I have embraced on this magical island of Kauai.

Crashing surf pounds the base of Na Pali, while mist rises up to cling to its steep walls.

I wish I could write like you!! (Even in German, my native language, I can't express myself that much.) Your words - pure poetry! The photo - excellent. Both together touched me deeply!

Danke sehr aufmerksam! I believe that you also can express yourself extremely well, it just takes practice and a lot of reading the works of others. The words you shared above are heartfelt and beautiful. You wrote them from where you were at emotionally and they convey those emotions beautifully. I am just beginning to share words with my photography and am glad that you have found enjoyment in them. Have a great day.
