Day 78/09 - Back to the Classroom

by Gillian March. 19, 2009 1780 views

Another session in the classroom today and we still haven't started on the numbers yet.

Today was one of two days on Key Skills, ie numeracy and literacy. For two years whilst at school all those years ago I studied and passed my exams in Maths and English. Well, apparently these GCSE's only ‘last’ 5 years and so since it was more than 5 years ago that I took mine, I am obliged to do a 2-day course, pass a 40 question multiple choice test and then receive a certificate to say that I can still do Maths and English.

After two days study this certificate will last me a life time but a two year course only lasts 5 years - where is the logic in that?

The people who make the rules for the rest of us to follow rarely make sense.
