the manor house... before! ... way before!!

Log of the reconstruction

After the inquisitive comments of my previous entry, I realised I should post a few more pages about the manor house and show different stages of the restoration!

I scanned some bad colour photocopies of the original (good) photographs by architect Lourenço Rocchi.
So these images are shown only for their historic interest; and that is because they are the only ones I found that show the ruins of the house like we found them… in the beginning!

Carley:
there are consistent records about a family living there in 1645 (that is 17th century). The descriptions suggest that the house was well established by that time...
That's why we believe that the first, smaller part of the buildings dates back to the 16th century or even before!
