Does a year have a smell?

Mother is moving and massively downsizing. Every time I see her I get stuff, maybe I want it, maybe I don't-lol. Something I asked for, something I put dibs on years ago, something that goes with something I already have, or just random boxes of random things she thinks I may need/want. This was in one of those random grab bags.

Why? Who knows. Perhaps she thinks she doesn't need to wear makeup anymore since they're moving 'up north' - to vacationland - where there is no one, and no reason to dress up. She never really wore too much makeup anyway. This is not my brand. This is the makeup of my mother's generation. (although, it's made in the US and has been more available here than other brands over the past year so I HAVE been buying some products.....that and it seems to be the only brand I can buy just a single color eye shadow, not 4-5 in the same box when I only use 1 or maybe 2 colors. )

and, yes. It does smell like 1973.

i was 6 and playing dress up with my friend, Jenny. Jenny's mom let us use her makeup and would help us put it on. Yes, I can smell it still. Covergirl smells like 1973. I think a year does have a smell, and 1973 smells like Covergirl. Covergirl clean makeup by Noxema. Cheryl Tiegs... well, she was a bit later than 1973, but if you know who she is, maybe it's your make up too?

I have to apologize, I'm not a product photographer. Admittedly, this is not the greatest photo. This was an impromptu make do shoot on top of my washer with a t shirt for a backdrop..on-camera flash and a bare lightbulb in the ceiling....

Nostalgic shot!  The packaging does harken back to the 70's! Love your fun commentary!smile
