Tentative Steps

A close-up of leaves in the autumn

Was taken in North Pole, AK in August of 2011 (Early fall in Alaska). I love how the leaves are just beginning to turn colors.

I was (and still am) the "family photographer".  Taking out my camera at Christmas, Thanksgiving, birthday parties and a myriad of other celebrations.  When it was all over, I uploaded my photos, shared them on social media and then tucked my camera way until the next time.

This photo was taken in August of 2011 in my front yard in North Pole, AK.  I decided I wanted to dust my camera off for something other they the typical family festivities and enjoyed the process and the results.  Autumn comes early and does not last very long in Alaska, so the fleetingness of it makes it seem even more beautiful and I took several photos.

Unfortunately, when it was all said and done, I did not go further with my photography .  At the time, I don't think I really believed that it could be my means of self-expression or perhaps I did not have the confidence to make a go of it.  Today, it is about discovery and learning and I am willing to see where it all takes me.

Interesting story!
I look forward to seeing a bit more of your work. Have you lived there all your life?

Thanks, Kenny. My family and I moved to Alaska in 1995, so it's been over 20 years.
