Maple Syrup

Our local park district likes to put on various presentations throughout the year to promote the parks as well as to educate people. One of those presentations is the tapping of maple syrup. The idea behind this demonstration is to inform young kids as to where their favorite syrup that is slather on pancakes, comes from.

I personally am not a big fan of pancakes and syrup for breakfast, I like my deserts sweet, but my entrees, including breakfast need to be savior. To me this presentation was more of a reason to take some photos, and if I learned something......great. Mind you I have lived in this town for over 20 years and this was the first time I had gone to see the demonstration.

Truth be known I was rather disappointed with the whole demonstration. The naturalist that was presenting did not disseminate a lot of information therefor, I really didn't learn a lot and cannot in return enlighten you. You will have better luck learning about Maple syrup tapping from this couple than me. But for what it's worth, here are some photos I took.

And so that is the story of the production of Maple syrup. :)

I'm so with And I Saw about that - I really thought it's just about drilling a hole and wait for the ambrosia. I love maple syrup and it doesn't come cheap - now I know why!
Nice documentation with eye catching pictures - I learned a lot ... from you! wink

There's fake Maple syrup here as well called Mrs. Butterworth and it's definitely not the same as real Maple syrup, but as you said isn't cheap so people fudge a bit :) ( fudge is not chocolate in this case but "falsify")

Just so you know.....I get emails, just like everyone else here, notifying me of someone's post or response. Your responses always bring a smile, or a giggle or a big laugh out of me. This particular response brought out a big GIGGLE especially when I  visualized you chained to the tree gulping the chocolate. :)
