People Watching

The annual Fat Ass 5K & Street Party for Charity came up and this time I chose to participate by taking my camera along and actually watching the people. I bet you are wondering what a Fat Ass 5K entails. Well for those of you have been following me for a while you will remember that I blogged about the Fat Ass 5K last year.

But for those of you who don't feel like looking back, Fat Ass 5K is as its name indicates a street party with charitable intentions/goals. Anyone can participate in the activity by purchasing a ticket. The money collected from the sale of the tickets goes towards approximately 41 different local charities.

It is a very well organized activity which actually starts the night before the race with entertainment and food made available to the public. The race commences at 10:00 a.m. sharp the following morning.

People show up downtown at around 9:00 a.m. all dressed up and ready to go. I made sure I was there early enough to capture some of the early morning activities.

The most important items were set out for the paying participants such as

water,

port-a-potties,

beer,

and cigars.

I know you are probably thinking to yourself....."What a strange run this is". Well what is even stranger is the runners/walkers clothing.

Sit back and do some people watching while I give you a tour.

All the above activities started way before the beginning of the race. To get people even more excited and psyched free hot dogs were passed out. No someone did not walk around passing out hot dogs, instead the dogs were shot into the air.

Want to see how?

Well, for me it's more of a waddle than wiggle, but I'll keep it in mind grinning

Thank you Bethany. These photos are just a glimpse of some of the stuff that went on. I took approximately 140 photos only because each time I looked around there was something happening that needed to be memorialized.
