The pod was taken on the above table. The key to making the background dark is having a low ISO and a high numbered f/stop and then having some form of light either flashlights or speed lights to illuminate the object. This room is quite bright and if you look at the reflection you can see that there are windows behind me as well and yet the pod's background is pretty dark. Although, so much light is nice sometimes it is an obstruction especially if shooting glass because it picks up all the reflection from the surrounding are.That's when I go into the hallway.
My strawberry shots and dice roll were taken in this hallway. The two cheap flashes on either side captured the so called "high speed" capture of the dice and the water droplets of the strawberry.
I do have some foam boards that I play around with at times, but for me fiddling with the f/stop and the ISO is easier than trying to manage the foam boards. Hope this helps, if not ask away......time is what I got tons of these days 😁
