Homemade Ice Cream

Sometimes you come across something that seems so out there, so bizarre, that you have to try it out for yourself.

After all if you are curios cat, and this cat is way too curious sometimes, you have to test it just so as to confirm that it's very odd and no, not worth all the hoopla.

Well in this case the "something" is buttermilk ice cream.

Who ever heard of that flavor of ice cream?

Definitely not me!

After all what is buttermilk.....FERMENTED milk!

The word fermented alone should prove that it is not something one would eat as an ice cream......

Sweet.......

Rich....

Creamy......

Frozen......

Delicious.......

ICE CREAM!!!

But, let me tell you buttermilk ice cream is scrumptious!!

First of all this particular recipe, makes a very creamy batch. It is sweet, just like vanilla ice cream. And at first bite, that is exactly what you think you are eating, a very creamy, smooth, vanilla flavored ice cream.

Then BAM!

You get this tangy, lemony, taste in you mouth, which makes you go .....

WOW! That was a surprise!

Combine this flavor with a drizzle of chocolate syrup.

Ok a little more than just a drizzle...

And then some more because chocolate is good for you.

And then you sit and indulge.

A bite of ice cream and a bite of lady fingers.

Then another bite of ice cream followed by another bite of lady fingers.

And suddenly you are down to the last bite and realize you haven't shared.

So here's a bite just for you......

After all, who wants to get fat all by themselves. 😋

You've sold this to me. I'm making it Friday. I've only ever used buttermilk for Irish Soda Bread before.

Let me tell you one other use  I found for buttermilk. I had two cups left over from the ice cream recipe and found out that marinating a  chicken in it would create the most juiciest, most tender oven roaster. We had it last night and it really was good. Here's the recipe if interested:

Yes, I'd forgotten that one. I have done it once before and by sheer chance had it eating out on Monday this week too.
