Fast Shutter

Week 14.......fast shutter speed challenge. Not really sure why it's called fast shutter, maybe just so as to distinguish it from a slow shutter?

Anyway, the challenge was to freeze the moment in time.

For extra credit one could do drip water photography. Having done a ton of water drips in the past and being too lazy to set up for it, I decided to try something else.

Daffodils are in season, so it became the main character for this challenge.

Of course I tried other "freeze the moment in time" captures as well.

And then, the sieve decided to dump instead of sprinkle.

That's when I knew it was time to move on.

Another week of challenge behind me.

I would consider these action shots par excellence! #1 Is by far my favorite because timing was crucial here and that you managed to get a completely sharp drop with refraction falling, is a bit too perfect, and so in my mind awesome. Wonderful shot.

THANK YOU!! It definitely took several clicks and thank god for DSLR where you do not have to spend money to see the results smile

I agree with Peter - to the dump, to the dump, to the dump, dump, dump!

We could - if I had any rhythm and didn't have two left feet!

Lovely set-up and creativity as per usual. Agree with Peter about the dump grinning

The shutter speeds don't seem very fast, did you experiment with different ones? (mind you, I guess there's a limit to how much sugar you can pour on things!)

Flash is what stops the action, at least in these cases. My intent was to blur out the background and yet have the  milk and sugar be focused, hence the wide f/stop. My goal was to get that swirl I've seen people do with sugar/flour, somewhat like an S. But obviously I am much more heavy handed than I thought, no swirl just a dump. 😉

I'm getting the impression your heart was not in this one.smile I actually thought the flower was an iris at first but the water drop is a success. Looking at the off centre composition I might have cropped even more off the left to make it really weighted that side.

Truth be known, I had three versions of this shot (#1) exported out of Lightroom, and spent the entire week  (took the shots last Tuesday, since all 52 frame challenges need to be within a certain date) looking in and out on a daily basis, to see what "grabs" me. Settled for this one. Therefore, you are probably accurate in saying that my heart was not in this challenge when it took me that long to decide. The only thing that truly grabbed my attention was the clarity of the water drop.... win some, lose some :)
