Before going to the USA : Lafayette - chateau de Chavaniac

The Château de Chavaniac is a fortified manor-house in Chavaniac-Lafayette, Auvergne, France, - 92 km from my city, Clermont-Ferrand.

The French and American flags fly permanently over the castle in honor of the key role Lafayette played in the French and American revolutions.

Looks like my kind of place...We have a famous family here in the east coast by the name of DuPont that I believe were from France. They are famous for establishing the American DuPont Company and for the beautiful Longwood Gardens and Nemours Gardens....which some of these photos remind me of....Great photos!
