Zakopane shops: cheese, wool slippers, and of course sausages

Zakopane is a mountain resort where you can explore tatra mountains from. I took some of these photos while coming back to my villa, mostly from the shops along the busy krupowki street.

This street is buzzing with tourists from all over Europe and is the perfect place to get a cold beer and a Zurek after a tiring hike.

I specially liked the mountain cheese they have. Oscypek cheese is made from mountain goat's milk and it has been a tradition of Tetra region for centuries. It's very rich in taste and can be quite salty but when it is grilled and served with home made cranberry jam, it's even yummier! And it is really cheap as well (1.5PLN or 2.5PLN grilled and served with cranberry jam)

So many types of cheese!

The best snack ever! amazing smoked cheese and cranberry jam :)

Polish sausages

Zurek after a tiring hike! This is my favorite dish from Poland!

Original leather and wool slippers, dirt cheap and extremely comfortable.

I haven't had breakfast yet, and this made me really hungry. I wasn't sure at first which Eastern country Tatra you were based in, but now I know reading comments below. Always wanted to get to Poland so thats cool, thanks for sharing :)

the Oscypek (mountain cheese) is very very too much salted to me, but the Polish guys with me stopped especially to buy for their wife, so may be i'm wrong for not appreciating....
however the polish sausages are very good

It's amazing to see how tourists perceive Poland :) Especially to see it here, on phb. It's like looking at my homecountry from totally new perspective. Thank you for that!

I remember Poland in 1981, solidarnosc time... none of this was available then. seems like Poland has thrived since. :-)

Fascinating mix of colours and sensations. Cheese and ham? After all, why not?
