Nikko Tamozawa Imperial Villa tour - Part 2

by Ram Ya January. 15, 2017 1951 views

This is part two of my trip to Nikko Tamozawa Imperial Villa tour. I am posting two parts because I prefer not to post process large batch of photos in one go. This post has mainly photos of the villa's gardens. Enjoy.

We didn't plan to go to Japan when fall colors are in peak. We got lucky I guess.

Gardens at the Villa. Full display of fall colors

Peaceful bedrooms with tatami mattresses.

Well kept indoor gardens

Beautiful moss gardens

Wow...fall in full display. The colors are captivating. I'm intrigued by the tatami mattress....I'm not seeing anything that I woud call a mattress, lol. Is it those darker brown rectangles on the floor?

Yes, the tatami mattress is a very think mattress from bamboo fibers. I think this is the main reason Japanese people take their shoes off when enter a place. If you were to walk on this mattress with your shoes, it can be damaged.
