Tsukiji fish market - Part 2, Sushi breakfast!

by Ram Ya February. 24, 2017 2371 views

This is part 2 of our visit to the Tsukiji fish market in Tokyo. We strolled through the fish market for few hours and worked up quite an appetite. It is no surprise consider how big this market is, it is at least 10 street blocks in my estimation. Besides you have to walk very carefully and watch out for those speeding electric trucks unless you want to end up in a styrofoam box with fish!

I love the contrast of his attire in this image.

We walked out around noon and the market was winding down its daily activities. You could see people chatting around their trucks or cleaning up the streets after the busy day. However, the streets around the market were just getting started. These busy alleyways are known for fresh sushi and seafood restaurants. We jumped in and almost got separated few times.

Delivery of fresh seafood from the market

Looks so delicious and fresh!

A street vendor

I think he was signaling me not to cross his path

We decided that we should try street stalls before settling on one dish! It is hard not to come to this idea when it looks and smells so good...

So many options for seafood BBQs

Unusual sighting from one of the stores

A worker cleaning the streets after the activities slow down.

I turned back to take one last photo of the market

Big thank you to my friend @yokai for his guidance and accompanying us to this market! If you are interested in seeing the part one of this post, please check here. As always, As always, your comments and critique are much appreciated

We should have been there before 6:00 am but I enjoyed strolling through the market and eating sushi with you.
By the way, this fish market will soon be history due to aging of its facilities and safety concern.
A new market site has already built though the relocation is delayed.
