I prefer prime lens. Prime lenses are cheaper and their image quality are exceptional! grinning

Thanks for the reply, Deddy. Some of my most sharp images are from prime lenses. I am amazed at their quality every time when I think of how cheap they are compared to zoom L lenses.

I Prefer zoom lens for all use except Macros, my lenses are Tamron 16/300, Canon 10/18, Sigma 105 Macro, and 8mm Samyang

Thanks for the comment, Giancarlo. Do you generally use a small aperture for your macro shots? I am asking because I was reading an article yesterday which claim that you can still get good bokeh effect by using a small aperture with a large magnifying factor of your lens.

Yes, normally I normally use f2.8 for good bokeh in my  macros

I love my zoom! I use it from early spring through late fall.  I am outside a lot during that time and many times it is easier to zoom in rather than trying to use the prime close  up close. But once winter comes I go to my prime lenses because most of the photos I take are inside and the prime works much better for the occasion.

Ram I am confused by your comment. I was under the impression that my comment was under the article.

Primes are perfect for specific purposes, as are zooms....I guess that's why both are popular/available....no??? (grin)
Primes are my choice , if I know exactly what I'm going to shoot & have enough time to get setup, but zooms are much more versatile when I don't know what may catch my fancy on a photowalk or where there are rapidly changing subjects.....I think it would be nice to have the equivalent of a "golf caddie" who would follow me around lugging all the gear that may be appropriate to whatever I may fancy and want to capture, along the way....right??? (((GRIN)))

I prefer my primes, however if I'm on the sidelines I need my fast zoom.
