Hiking in the Canadian Rockies - Part 2

by Ram Ya August. 14, 2019 333 views

This is part 2 of my recent hikes in the Canadian Rockies. Part 1 is here

Peyto Lake Viewpoint & Bow summit hike (Banff) - 4 hour

The hike to the Peyto Lake Viewpoint should be on every Rockies itinerary. This viewpoint offers one of the finest views of Peyto Lake on an accessible, family-friendly hike. While the main Peyto Lake viewpoint is crowded, make sure to visit the second one, which is often deserted.

Peyto lake. Probably the most beautiful scenery I've experienced so far.

Parker Ridge Trail hike

Hiking up Parker Ridge unlocks some amazing views of the Saskatchewan Glacier, the largest of the Columbia Icefield’s six valley outlet glaciers. This hike is a great stop when driving the Icefield Parkway between Lake Louise and Jasper.

Doing two hikes per day is not recommended but again.... can't say no to these views!

Oh... is that the 70-200mm you got there, not enough zoom eh?

hi Ram
lovely landscapes!
what gear were you carrying? I‘ve noticed on my vacation in the mountains that I wish for an integrated camera without interchangeable lens because its otherwise too heavy for long active days outdoors. What is your experience?

Whoa!  The colours in #1 are so inspiring! As an amateur, I usually just try to make sure the lighting is okay in the photo, but now I am inspired to try and capture vivid colours. ....I've only seen bears behind bars in Minnesota, although they are everywhere. This bear certainly is beautiful! heart eyes

It is quite stunning and well worth the effort to get there #5 and #6 looks like the bear is quite healthy and well prepared to get a head start on putting on the winter weight.

Thanks, Russell. I was thinking the same thing about the bear. Maybe it had a big meal or is pregnant (there were no cubs around)

What an amazing scenery it is! Trail walking is not easy at all but those scenery after sweaty trail walk compensates all the toils.
I cannot imagine what to do if I have bear in front of me! Definitely I will just got frozen. We have some chance to meet wild boar on the trail but scarcely have chance to meet bears. Thank you for sharing beautiful pictures.

Thanks for the comment, Ho. Glad you enjoyed the set. We were not prepared for bears at all. We only had a bear whistle but I have no idea how effective that would be.

Wow! The scenery is amazing. I can definitely see why you took two hikes in one day. Gorgeous captures.
