some lovely mediaeval tiles not in there original setting but recycled who knows how long ago
I first went to Cowdray House about 3 years ago, You couldn't get in because it wasn't safe and so it was deliciously tantalising, leaning in through windows for a peep and all untouched and unguarded. Really exciting. There's a bridge over a little river outside the main gates and as I was leaning over looking at the waterweeds flowing like mermaids hair, my boy, who must've been about 5 or 6, started singing a very sweet and Elizabethan sounding song. I said
“ Why are you singing that”? He said
“ Oh, the Lady was singing it”
“What Lady”?
“The one that was here just now”
Don't have to tell you do I, that there was no-one there………….
Any way, it's all done up and demystified now with stupid figures dressed up and motion activated tape recorders booming out crap and no children under 18!!!!! allowed on the roof … Boy incensed.

oh god. I write like Yoda. Just shoot me.
