"THERE IS NO SECRET, ARTIFICIAL INTELLIGENCE HAS BEEN IN DEVELOPMENT FOR DECADES. NOW A I THINK ON THEIR OWN BUILDING A UNIQUE KNOWLEDGE BASE FROM THE WWW THAT SUPER SEEDS ANYTHING MOST BRILLIANT HUMANS CAN MANIFEST AND HUNDREDS OF TIMES FASTER. NOW WE ARE LIGHTS, CAMERA, ACTION!"

Artificial Intelligence (AI) is in the headlines again but not for the usual stuff that we have heard in the past. It seems like we have finally tapped into the true potential of this amazing technology.

Wondering why? Because recently, it has been announced that a Hollywood sci-fi movie is going to feature an AI robot in the lead role.

Yes, you heard it right! An AI robot is finally getting to play a lead role in an upcoming Hollywood movie of a mammoth budget of USD $70 million.

Produced by Sam Khoze, the movie is about scientists who create an AI robot named Erica who realize the danger of this program of creating a perfect human being artificially. As per the reports, the shooting of the movie will complete next year.

AI ACTRESS "ERICA" INTERVIEW: HERE

With all the development in the world of robotics, nobody would have ever thought to have a robot acting in a film but it did not happen overnight. The producers Sam Khoze and Anoush Sadegh got the task done in collaboration with professors Kohei Ogawa and Hiroshi Ishiguro of the University of Osaka and Telecommunication Research Institute.

This task has opened new doors of imaginations and possibilities pertaining to Artificial Intelligence and its applications.

The producers said that they wanted to create the story in a revolutionary way. A robot does not have life experiences and this is the reason why they created this persona about those experiences and then taught the robot to act accordingly.

Hiring a robot has its own advantages but with benefits come a few challenges as well. The robot named Erica has been taught everything from scratch. The producers had to stimulate her movements and emotions through individual sessions.

Moreover, the speed of her movements, speaking through feelings, and training in body language and personal development were also some of the major challenges that the producers and filmmakers had to overcome.

This entire process took about 2 years to train Erica. It also included the life experiences of meeting people. The robot is said to be 23-years old, or she has been trained to look 23-year old. She was also taken to the museum to meet children and normal people. The creators have termed it as a fun robot that is very welcoming and easy going.

The production company has rated this mysterious short movie as ‘B’ class but it is going to be the world’s first AI-equipped movie. However, the cast and all the spectators have to wait until 2021 to see how the movie turns out to be.

Speaking about the story, the producers said that they went through several rewrites and discarded a lot of plots before finalizing the current one. According to them, they wanted to make the movie as engaging and interesting as possible for the audience.

Just like the audience, the inclusion of Erica in the movie has sparked curiosity among the audience who are now keen to know what the future holds for them. For a moment, the robot in a lead role has made all the actors envious of the fact that their careers could be on the stake as well.

However, it is not going to be the case. Just like other industries, there are some limitations of Artificial Intelligence and the same applies to acting as well.

Human actors can always come up with diverse roles and leave everyone with their versatility. This although can be replicated with robots but not only will the costs increase to an unimaginable level but the time required would also take away all the excitement.

Not to forget the fan following actors have, they bring in a lot of viewership. The robots don’t have that fan following and creating movies with them regularly at the expense of the actors will not bring any luck to the producers. In fact, it would put the entire investment at stake.

The movie is scheduled for release in 2020. What the movie has in store for all of us, it would be very early to speculate. However, so far, the stakes are high and the excitement is getting bigger as the time is progressing and reports regarding the movie are coming out gradually. We can all just hope and wait for Erica to create history and showcase her magic on the big screen.
