Ceasefire Crumbles

Gaza ceasefire crumbles as missiles hit southern Israel

Children across southern Israel on Thursday were once again spending the day in or near bomb shelters instead of at school as Gaza-based Palestinian terrorists resumed their indescriminate rocket fire on the region. Israel and the Gaza terror groups had settled into an uneasy ceasefire two days earlier, but by Wednesday afternoon, the residents of Netivot and the “southern capital” of Beersheva were again under attack. One Grad-type missile was intercepted by Israel's Iron Dome anti-missile system, but two more slammed into Beersheva, leading local authorities to deem it too dangerous for children to attend school. Earlier this week, a missile fired by Palestinian groups landed in a Beersheva school playground, spraying the area with deadly shrapnel. Fortunately, school had also been cancelled that day. Israel responded to the resumption of rocket fire by targeting terrorist installations across Gaza in pinpoint aerial strikes.
The Beer Sheva attack came just hours after another rocket exploded in downtown Netivot.

An Israeli female soldier in her early 20s was stabbed while riding on Jerusalem's light rail Thursday morning. The stabber was an Arab who ran away from the scene of the stabbing, witnesses said. The stabbing occurred as the train was traveling through the Pisgat Ze'ev neighborhood in northern Jerusalem. Service has been suspended on trains in the north of the city. Police have opened an investigation. Initial findings show that the Arab boarded the train at one of the stops on its route, quickly stabbed the soldier, and jumped off the train within seconds. After a search of about 20 minutes, police arrested the stabber. He is being questioned by security personnel.

The woman was being treated for serious wounds by rescue personnel, and was transferred to Sha'arei Tzedek Hospital for further treatment. This was the first reported terror attack on Jerusalem's light rail, which is ridden daily by thousands of Jerusalem residents, Jewish and Arab.

Last week, an IDF soldier was stabbed when soldiers entered Yatta to arrest a terrorist who was plotting a terror attack. The terrorist, Khaled Mahmara, was released in the deal to free kidnapped IDF soldier Gilad Shalit several months ago. Two terrorists attacked the soldier, and one of them stabbed him in the throat. The soldier managed to shoot the terrorists, eliminating one and injuring the other.

Last night the IAF launched twin strikes on terror cells launching rockets. The attacks came as at least eight more rockets were fired, including one that injured a resident of Netivot.

During the four days of hostilities prior to the truce, terror groups fired more than 200 rockets at Israeli civilians, while the IAF responded with airstrikes.

The IAF launched a total of 37 airstrikes in Gaza during the four day exchange. 19 strikes targeted rocket-launchers and 18 targeted weapons warehouses.
26 Gazans were killed in the IAF airstrikes. Of these, at least 22 were terrorists.

March 11th after 8 p.m., BBC showed Israel as the agressors and told the world that Israel is using rockets against the poor civilians! BBC never even mentioned over 200 rockets fired from Gaza - only Israel did this and Israel did that, as if the terrorists are innocent of any wrong doing!

Retired general Tzvi Fogel, former head of Israel's Southern Command, told Israel National News what most Israelis already know, that any ceasefire is ultimately not going to last and the only way to end the threat is to enter Gaza in force.
Fogel explained that in addition to wanting to harm Israel, the various terror groups operating in Gaza are in conflict with one another for control of the coastal strip. And each group sees great value in dragging Israel into their infighting in order to weaken the others and paint themselves as valiant fighters against the Zionist enemy.
Explained Fogel: “Today everyone understands that unless we initiate a determined and courageous operation designed to dismantle the weapons and the threat from Gaza, we will not solve the problem.”

For this month, although I may post sometimes, I have no real free time, so I ask your forgiveness for not getting to your blogs or replying to comments much of the time. As soon as I can (probably post-Pesach/Passover) I will be back.

The border

They are so young…..

Swords into ploughshears? Not quite… sculptures made of old war machines…

This is the site where baby Shalhevet was brutally murdered, when a sniper on a facing hill aimed the crosshairs of his rifle at her tiny skull.
