Yalta Boardwalk -- or -- How to Make a Buck at the Beach

National sport

Note how they sit on plastic bags to keep their clothes clean longer. In the winter it would be a pillow or blanket – don't laugh – so as not to get a cold in the tushy! Sitting on a cold surface also supposedly keeps one from being able to have children. I tell them I am the proof that it is not true!

A British gentleman who joined the show!

The clown has all the kids dancing!

Definitely one of my favorites! Like many babushki I have known here, she looks far from well off, but takes care of herself. Fortunately she is very talented with her crochet hook, and it seems to keep her going.

Pirates of the….. Black Sea?

The girls who do this are sweltering under their heavy costumes!

Why didn't I remember these next 3 for converging lines?

There are always people strolling along with hawks, monkeys, snakes, parrots and other animals in captivity, with which one can be photographed. I know – inhumane!

Too saturated and bright, but I am too tired to go back and change it…

I guess there were LOTS of converging lines in Yalta… like the converging lines of the tourists from all over the FSU, Europe and beyond…

Still watchfully looking on…

He definitely would not have approved of this!

10 break dancing boys and 1 cap for donations. Probably have good drinking parties every night…

Playing dead! Poor dogs!

Still as statues

I remember when we first moved here, and people were wearing synthetic, greasy looking navy running pants, and so many would ask me “Do they have sports suits in America?”

For Dan!

This is one interesting set, with so many amusements and so much to see. I love the women with the crochet and how you edited this shot. She looks like a princess fallen in misfortune :)

Well again I am convinced that you have one of the best eyes on PB for capturing those moments that reveal so much much more than what you show in the pictures. I am so thankful that I am on the wavelength that receives and sees the totality of what you transmit.... You are amazing. #28 to my faves.....
