Theme - My little corner

by Cathrine Stewart April. 09, 2008 5652 views

I consider my little studio in Philly as my little corner where I am able to be alone from everything and a place where I can focus on school.

I moved to Bryn Mawr in the middle of January of this year. Up until 2 weeks ago I was struggling with severe loneliness. Then I seemed to cross a threshold of acceptance and peace about being alone, and began to embrace my new situation.

I know that I may go through periods of loneliness again at some point, but I don't think it will be quite as deep as in the beginning. I thank God for his help through this adjustment. I look forward to seeing what he has planned for me at this new stage of my life.

I decided to shoot my apartment in some color and black/white, some scenes in both for contrast.

It was three o'clock in the afternoon when I was shooting these photos. I needed a little pick me considering I have class from six until nine.

My single cup, Cup of Joe. My beans are dunkin' donuts, 2 tablespoons per cup. Mmmm….

My son bought this rose for me for Valentine's Day.

This is my MacKenzie - Child's serving tray, I use it almost everyday.

I bought 3 tropical trees for my place to help spruce it up and create more of a home for myself.

Well………..

This is the view from my shower, thank God for blinds!

My “kitchen” is too small to have a fridge in it. :O)

The view from my sofa.

All the photos, except two, are my photos from the Bahamas.

My wireless is my passage to the world.

I am thankful for Photoblog, it assists me in maintaining a hobby as I am so far from my family.

Another view from the sofa.

This ottoman acts like a coffee table for me as well.

My son and I transformed these photos, from all color to where only the flowers and buildings have color. We did this with Photoshop.

Gotta keep these charged, for my lifeline… ;O)

This is Andy. My son thought I needed my own Andy if I was going to become a writer / editor ( taken from the movie Funny Farm with Chevy Chase from the late 80s early 90s). It is one of our favorite movies. His little eyeballs give me something to look into when I am alone for too many hours. Thanks David! Love ya!

Because my place is so small, my library primarily consists of my dictionaries and other types of resources that help me when I am editing. This is the beginning of what will become an intense set of tools of trade for editing.

I am reminded when I see candles to let my light shine brightly in this dark world.

What a lovely little corner of the world! I like what you did with the flower/building pics in photoshop. And that coffee gadget...never seen one! Good luck with school!
