Last week, I just couldn't get enough hiking in. In three days I hiked 14 miles. Now understand that 9 miles of it was tough. My husband and I climbed Treman the day after we took the kids to Taughannock. It is roughly 5 miles up and down. The first 1/4- 1/2 mile is made up mostly of steep steps. I had to stop a few times to get my breath. Once we got past them, it wasn't as bad.
Two days later, I went back with a friend to photograph the top half. We walked down a mile and a half and then back up the other side which has extremely steep steps. My calves were still a little sore, so it was tougher. I felt like I was lifting weights after the first 40 or so. What a fabulous work out!

Mark and I walked up the one side and down the other side of this gorge. I used to walk this falls once a week… more than 14 years ago. We moved from the area for almost 5 years. Since then I had only walked down it once. After all these years the mountain was a “little tougher than it used to be.”

As you can see these steps are steep and there are lots of them, but not as many as there are coming from the bottom up. I need to go back and photograph them sometime. The next two pictures are looking down from the upper levels.

The steps on the side you can see are easy compared to some of the other sets.

these are so beautiful...I love the toad picture, but the waterfall pictures are my favourite!
