Sherlock Holmes: The Final Adventure

On October 25, we celebrated David's 19th Birthday with cake, a tour, and a play. Here are the pictures of the birthday boy, cake, and theatre.

Sherlock Holmes- The Final Adventure is based on the original 1899 play by William Gillette and Sir Arthur Conan Doyle.

Mark, David, and I stopped at the Gillette Castle in Connecticut four or five years ago on our way back from Cape Cod. It was a very interesting tour, and one of the best I have been on. Here is a website to view some pictures and history on Mr. Gillette:

We had Boston Creme cake, one of my son's favorites. I ordered it from a specialty store in my area in Pennsylvania. Oh, and that bottle is sparkling apple/grape juice… just a sideline for those of you who know my history… ;O)

David is crazy…

This is the outside of Hedgerow Theatre.

The inside of the front door.

The following windows are in the little eating area. During intermission the staff of the theatre laid out a delightful spread of snacks. During this time you had a chance to guess how Sherlock died. They had a drawing for a prize at the end of the play. As you can you the place was very rustic and quaint.

The steps that lead down the auditorium were alphabetized. I thought this was a neat little touch to the theatrical atmosphere. We sat three rows up from the stage. A very close-up view.

Entrance into the eating area (photo taken from the inside).

Notice the basket on the table. This is the package that was given to the winner who guessed correctly on how Sherlock died.

The stage area.

The cast.
