It was immediately evident upon leaving our Ljubljana lodgings that no matter what the city held in wait for our exploration, it would be a beautiful day in the Slovenian capital. Examining the sky above the terracotta roof tiles, the sun seemed to illuminate our spirits as much as the surrounding streets, for there was not a cloud to be seen.
A moments walk along a cobbled pathway connected us with the centre of this small but compact city, the Tromostovje or 'Triple Bridge' which spans over a fork in the Ljubljanica river and is where this photograph was taken. At odds with the heat of the day, the square was under an inch of water and a momentarily inexplicable mist hung in the air. A glance to the roof tops revealed a large sprinkler rotating, creating a rainbow when combined with the sunbeam channeled between two buildings on each revolution.
As she turned to me and smiled I took this photograph which remains one of the highlights of the trip. Totally unexpected and unplanned and only a fleeting moment, which made it all the more magical.
