Cloud Piercer

Mount Cook is the highest mountain in New Zealand. Its Maori name, Aroaki, means “cloud piercer” and it refers to the peaks, which often disappear out of sight and into the clouds. Beneath the mountain you can see where the Mueller Glacier, now a lake, used to be. The almost vertical cliff makes it look like someone cut the valley in half with a knife
