As this is the month of ‘love’ and ‘would you be my valentine’ I felt it appropriate to let the children do a story about the meaning of the cross, again. I know that some people, or maybe most people, love to receive mysterious cards, gifts and yes of course, bunches of beautiful flowers. Valentine's day even reach Leratong, the children draw hearts on all the pictures they have to color, how sweet… Our story today was about God's love, I would much rather have His love than a box of chocolates or a beautiful bouquet of fragrant flowers. Please, don't get me wrong, Wim is a very romantic guy, so I can joke and say that I celebrate V-day everyday. What I am trying to say is this: Did Jesus not die for us so that we could have the most precious gift of all? Were we not bought with His precious blood? John 3:16 'For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life. ' I especially wanted the children to understand that God also calls out to us and says YOU ARE mine. Are we excited when He calls or do we react only on this invitation when we feel like it?'…for I have redeemed you; I have summoned you by name; you are mine.' We had a good day and I believe that the kids got the message. Matshediso made herself comfortable in one of the bookshelves while we were doing the story. She was not a very happy little girl when I took this picture. I think all the children picking her up and loving her was just too much for one day. Keep on loving and remember, you were bought and you belong to Him.
