Greece Day 6

Today we took a bus up to Apollonia, the capital of Sifnos. The roads are quite interesting. They have what they call “main roads” which are two narrow lanes and accommodate all vehicles, then there are “non asphalt roads” (large flat stones with concrete between), and “minor roads” (stone as in second photo) with steps for walking only. Once you leave a “main road”, it's like a maze… you can't see out most of the time and have no indication of where to go next. There are many beautiful churches everywhere you look…but the streets are narrow and the buildings all connected making it very hard to photograph most of them.

View from Apollonia looking toward the sea.

A residential street for foot traffic only.

Entrance to a house.

Church and street…

HOT and taking a break.

Another church, flying the Greek flag.

Much of the open land is terraced.

Church in town.

Same church as above.

It looks unreal! Where are the people?? And how do they support so many churches?
