Greece Day 13

Today we took in the last of Santorini for this trip…. tomorrow we leave for Athens, the next day back to the USA. We walked out to the farthest point in Oia in the morning then hiked the caldera trail up to a little church in the afternoon. The island is quite narrow… we could see out to the sea on both sides. The “outside” of the island is VERY flat, quite a contrast to the caldera side.

Honestly, when I look at these churches, it makes me want to cry they are so beautiful! Sorry if you're tired of looking at them!

At the far point of Oia are some old windmills.

Even the gates that keep you ‘out’ of some churches are beautiful.

It's hard to beat sunning on a terrace overlooking the Mediterranean!

Unusual yellow dome…

“Here lives an architect”

Sorry if I've already showed you this one… I've lost track!

The trail we took looking back at Oia on the caldera side.

Same trail, looking out over the “outside” of the island…with my cute husband… and if you look carefully, the clouds on the horizon are over the mountain top of the neighboring island of Anafi.

Very simple bell tower of the small church about an hour up the trail.

The windmills are so strange and neat looking! I'm still amazed at how few people are there.
