16 trees atop Mount San Jacinto

10,800 ft. high Mount San Jacinto is the mountain that I see from our back yard… and just about any other place you go in Palm Springs!

So, the local pastime in Palm Springs is counting trees. Suppose it makes a change from counting sheep.

this has something deeply touching... i can imagine legends around these 16 trees on top of this hill, each one standing for a lynched indian, starved early settler or shot pirate... i can further see a message about age here, a head that only has 16 hairs left, and then there is the remarkable lack of sky. all in all, a very emotional shot, without a hint of sentimentality.

i agree with you for the poor looking of horizontal picture on PB! i'm always disapointed to see them when it's not possible to enlarge... though for landscapes, i'm a bit frustrated with square frame.
great b&w jacki!

I'm so glad you told me how many there were - you know us "A" personalities were going to count them! Really great scene to look at each day. Are you loving Palm Springs? It's supposed to be beautiful.
