This week, we had snow falling at our place. First time I can remember. I went out to get wood for the fire close to midnight, and was amazed! The following day, close to midday, I ventured out again, and there was still frozen snow in the backyard. Not great photos, granted. The day after, I was really surprised to find a snake curled up next to the barbecue near the back door. He was surprised nto see me as well, and was a bit aggro at me for disturbing his time in the weak winter sun. He moved faster than I expected, and has hidden in the base of the barbecue, where I cannot see him, (or her) nor be sure he's not there without demolishing the barbecue. Hmmm… no more barbecues for a while!

Nearly trod on this guy next to the barbecue. I stood on top of the barbecue to take these pictures. Not too close!

He/she is about 5 feet long, and none too happy about me being there.

I can't remember getting snow before. It was snowing around midnight, and still there the following midday. Brrr..

I understand that about 5% of all snakes in Australia are NOT poisonous. Always, always treat any snake you come across in Australia with the greatest respect. Fortunately most of them are not aggressive and will try to get away from you. If something stands on you, you might get a bit upset. Same with snakes!
