A short snapshot of an old British Port City and Naval Base.
This was my brief pass through the city and a few hours spent by the coast.
My initial images contain the very modern Emirates Spinnaker Tower which now can be seen in almost every part of the city.
The City has a lot of sculpture as you would image for an old city with many memorials to be found.
One of the statues is of Lord Nelson. (Vice-AdmiralHoratio Nelson, 1st Viscount Nelson, 1st Duke of Bronté)
Lord Nelson left from Portsmouth on board HMS Victory to go to the Battle of Trafalgar in 1805
The ruins of the Royal Garrison Church.
This famous church built in the early 1200s & used as an almshouse & hospice was firebombed in WWII.
I came across this site of a multistory boat park (well I suppose they have to store tham somewhere)!
There is a regular ferry crossing across the Solent (the channel between the UK mainland and the Ise of Wight) to the nearby Isle of Wight.
