Petra: last set

by David Swatton August. 12, 2010 2677 views

I promise this will be the last set from Petra… yes, I can sense you all yawning.

Anyway this was a treck up a steep ascent to the High Place of Sacrifice - apparently there used to be both animal and human sacrifice carried out here.

Certainly a dramatic setting for it.

Well they did say it was high… as usual, better enlarged

Don't look down, don't look down… oh, too late!

The place of sacrifice

More temples on the way down…

And finally back to the valley floor…

Your Petra series is remarkable. It's so difficult to capture the awesomeness of ruins, but you managed it magnificently. Thank you for showing me a place that I did not know existed - that is now on my list. :)

I like the 'creepy' factor in #3... can picture the sacrificial 'thing' going up those steps!

No. 3 as in "Q: who was sorry when the prodigal son returned? / A: the fatted calf".

Great set as usual and, as usual, I'm insanely jealous.
