White Horse Hill

by David Swatton September. 02, 2010 2853 views

On the way back from the Cotswolds last weekend we stopped off at White Horse Hill, the site of the most ancient hill figure in England - dating back to between 1400-600BC. It is carved into the chalk hill and is most spectacular from the air - unfortunately I had left my helicopter at home.

The hill offers great views (not really obvious from my small panorama - but I'm sure you get the idea), and is a great place to fly kites as it's VERY windy up there.

Couldn't make the horse image really...Eh well, I'll wait till you get another one more clear from your helicopter then...

I love it when someone reminds me of things I've seen... is this also called something like the Cherhill Horse? That's the best my memory can pull up from something I saw 20+ years ago.

Hmm, a helicopter would have been handy! Love the kite flyers - great composition.
