4th Plinth Art

This is the latest sculpture to adorn the empty “4th plinth” in Trafalgar Square… it's not the art that bugs me, more the drivel that is spoken about it. As follows:

"'Powerless Structures Fig. 101?? is a sculpture of a boy astride his rocking horse. A child has been elevated to the status of historical hero, though there is not yet a history to commemorate ?? only a future to hope for.

Cast in bronze, the work references the traditional monuments in the square, but, with its golden shine, it celebrates generations to come.

We wanted to create a public sculpture which, rather than dealing with topics of victory or defeat, honours the everyday battles of growing up.?

Oh dear….

Fabulous freakin' sky.
I concur about the drivel but I have to day, I don't like the sculpture either. I think it mucks up an otherwise lovely photo.

Well you know what I like to say... if it has to be explained it isn't getting the message across! 8^)

So does the 'art' on to of this change regularly?? I sort of like the sculpture from what I can see but it looks oddly out of place in this space.... if I look only at the top right 1/4 of the photo, it looks pretty good.
