Steamin'...

A couple of the engines running on the Severn Valley Railway the day I visited Bridgnorth. I can't say I am interested in actually travelling on steam trains as once you are on board then it's just a rather slow-moving train. But I do enjoy watching (and photographing of course) the engines themselves. They must have been a dirty exhausting nightmare to work on day after day but to see them now, crewed by volunteers who obviously love the experience is a treat. Nostalgia through rose-tinted spectacles but a thrill nonetheless.

The fun by looking and photographing isn't the same as choosing pure boredom by sitting in it.

Nostalgia yes! I remember traveling on them as a child, it was a treat as my parents loved to take us to various museums, the Albert Hall, Tower of London etc. We loved the journey ... cool

There is definitely something to be said for a slower pace of life.
