“I lost my friend right here. I sit here sometimes to be close to her. This is her memorial, and her ghost bike is over there.
"Aurilla was a messenger like me - we’re a part of the bike life community. She was wearing a bright orange hat just like that guy across the street. And she still got hit.
"It was the day after we returned from a vacation in Aruba. February 28 – one year ago. It was a hit and run, and I still don’t have her bike. They promised me I could get it. It should be ready soon.
"She was a musician – she played the flute and she was singer. She was pool shark – I’m mean she was really good; she could beat the best of the best.
"You should’ve seen the ride-out in her honor – we all rode through the street, in the middle of the street. My name is Danijela, and I’m from Bosnia in the former Yugoslavia.”
