Memorial Day 2020, New York City
This is Cobb, a veteran of World War II. He and the rest of this crew live in Queens, NY.
Each year, these veterans, along with their sons and grandsons caravan "somewhere" to commemorate Memorial Day. Last year they traveled to Normandy, France for the 75th anniversary of the invasion.
Today they chose West Side Drive in Manhattan. They drank and smoked ... and greeted passersby ... and fans.
Cobb shared a few words with me, and ended with a sad truth - "the ones we're losing now, they're young with no wives or children, and when they're dying ... they yell 'Ma, Ma ...' They want their mothers. Now that's sad."
