The Big Dig [en.wikipedia.org] was a massive restructuring of the highways leading into and out of Boston. Its official name was the Central Artery / Tunnel Project (CA/T). Costs for the project escalated to a massive $22 Billion dollars, a figure that The Boston Globe estimates will not be paid off entirely, until 2038.
