Trilobites are invertebrate life forms that lived on the sandy bottoms of pre historic seas about 500 million years ago. They are frequently found as fossils in shale rocks here in Wisconsin. This one is about an inch long.

That's a tiny beauty!
Next time, when I will visit my parents, I will photograph our two table tops, which are full of fossils.
I look forward to seeing those photos!
I'll try to re-shoot with a greater depth of field next time...with my 60mm lens, this was more of a close up than I realized and I used a larger F-stop to make up for the poor lighting. I'm going to start using additional lighting in more of my indoor shots this year, always something to learn
at least it isn't reflecting the light as our table top does - it almost impossible to photograph it under normal conditions.
Cool. I saw them all over the desert in Morocco on my last visit and the guides go on and on about how it's such a unique area to find those fossils. I had no idea they could be found in US strata.
