I was watching a documentary and learned that the Hall of Supreme Harmony (太和殿) in the Forbidden City in Beijing is the largest wooden building in the world.
The Forbidden City was the imperial palace in China where the Ming and Qing dynasty emperors lived for 600 years. And the Hall of Supreme Harmony was the center of imperial power. This was where the emperor held court and also where the emperor ascended the throne and had his wedding. The hall was first built in 1406 by Ming emperor Zhu Di and was last rebuilt in 1695 in the Qing dynasty.
Today the Forbidden City is a very popular tourist attraction with many visitors from all over the world.
