"NOAH, WHERE'S THAT ARK?!"

by Brenda Nelson April. 26, 2011 3062 views

We have had 4 days of rain that has resulted in severe flooding throughout Northern Arkansas and Southern Missouri. Local roads are washed out and all the ditches are overflowing across the highways. Thankfully, Larry and I are high enough to not be in danger of water levels. And we live among many hills and valleys, so much of the 12+ inches of rainfall has run into the lakes and rivers. However, the Weather Channel just announced that there are breaches along the Mississippi and Arkansas rivers.

Our golf course is completely covered in water - all the fairways and ponds look like rivers!

I tried to run outside for a few shots between the blinding rain, the 40 mph winds, and the constant lightning! What we won't do for a shot!!

In the back of our house, to the right of our patio, the golf course looks like rivers of rushing water!

To the left of the house, there are rivers of water feeding into our little pond. Just a few minutes earlier, this tree was sideways in the wind!

The rains have washed out the white sandtraps and the water is over the 2-foot rock wall that surrounds the green! (Two little ducks didn't seem to mind!)

The edge of our pond used to be at the red stake - and those 2 trees are in the next fairway!

During the heaviest rainfall, it was a little scary!

After the tornado warnings were dismissed, I caught this shot of another pond that was spilling over and adjoining our smaller one.

This shot taken from the front of the house shows white rapids on Big Creek, rolling down #10 fairway!

But, it could be worse….my daughter Amy took this photo of a golf course in Northwest Arkansas. If you look carefully to the right of the big tree, you'll see a flag on a green that is submerged!

I was spending half my day in my "tornado shelter" while the sirens were blaring here in Memphis, too!
More to come tomorrow, they said, and even the day after! Be safe!
