Larry and I spent our first married Valentine's Day apart. I was working in a bank in Norfolk, Virginia while he was on a Navy cruise through the Mediterranean. Needless to say, I was so surprised when a dozen red roses arrived at my door - especially because we couldn't afford anything so extravagant! After I took their picture to he could see them, I told him in a letter to never spend that much on flowers for me again - and he took me at my word! I think those were the last ones I ever got from him! However, he gave me a beautiful porcelain rose several years ago on Valentine's Day - it's been much more lasting and special.
He's "the love of my life".
