Down in the depths
Light up above streaming in
To get there though?
So many paths lead astray
How to navigate?
To find one’s way?
Knots await a wrong turn
Ropes which wrap around, pull tighter, suffocate
Too thin, and the twig will break, you shall fall
Back into the abyss
The big branches seem the most successful route
However they require a steep vertical incline and offer no respite along the journey
One may tire, slip and plummet all the way to the bottom
Maybe our best hope is to literally just jump
To hurl ourselves with everything we’ve got
In one crazy moment of madness
Close your eyes
Pray you catch a branch
Cling on for dear life if you do
The remainder of the way
Till you reach the light
Or die trying
