Kras Morawski - Jaskinia Kateřinská i Byci Skala

by Marzena Jozefczyk April. 29, 2011 7171 views

Each cave of the Moravian Karst is different. There are monstrous halls and tiny corridors, some are filled with stalagmites and other forms, some were devastated centuries ago. Some are important habitat for bats, some contain bones of cave bears.
Each one is wonderful. There are only 5 caves out of 1100 available for tourists but each one is worth visiting. Katerinska is the smallest from the “big five” but amazes with the “bamboo forest” - columns and stalagmites unusually thin.

Byci Skala is one of the caves unavailable for tourists. But, several times a year there are “open doors” and I want to be there at that time :)

“Bamboo Forest” - the most charakteristic formation in Katerinska Cave
