Day 99- A Shot in the Dark

by Drohask April. 09, 2010 6983 views

In our neck of the woods people are fairly accustomed to hearing weather forecasts that include rain, drizzle, and fog. Those three words certainly describe today's weather, which usually signifies an evening best spent snuggled up at home with blankets and movies.

Tonight was quite the opposite, however, and we were excited to get out into the dense, chilly air so we could try our hand at photography in these conditions. Not knowing what to expect, this was a bit of a shot in the dark (pardon the pun) but we were pleased with our results. In fact, we're so looking forward to trying again soon that we won't even gripe the next time fog rolls in.

Dro played the role of model as Hask snapped this photo.

Dro captured a group of trees backlit by city lights.

Love that first shot especially.
Really great use of dramatic lighting.
Not sure if you welcome any input but...
If you closed down your aperture in that 1st pic to f/22 or something similar, those spots of lights would turn into starbursts. Always best to use a tripod in that situation (since it'll slow your shutter speed so much) and have your model hold perfectly still :)
Again, great shot!

First shot - I *love* the reflection of the light off the branches on the second tree from the right. Nicely done.
