Today, we arrived at Union Station [photoblog.com] around 2pm, jumped on the Metro Red Line [photoblog.com] and headed out to Gaithersburg, Maryland (Shady Grove) where we checked into our hotel, dropped off our bags, and changed clothes.
We headed back down to Union Station [photoblog.com] where we ate dinner in the food court and took an evening tour of the monuments via Tourmobile. We passed the Capitol, the Washington Monument [photoblog.com], and the White House [photoblog.com]. We made stops at the Jefferson Memorial [photoblog.com], FDR Monument, Lincoln Memorial [photoblog.com], Korean War Veterans Memorial [photoblog.com], and the World War II Memorial [photoblog.com]. We came back later in the week to visit the Vietnam War Memorial [photoblog.com] (it's not set up for viewing at night, black granite and all).
