Opening Day: Pomp and Circumstance

by Kevin April. 01, 2011 2830 views

I got the opportunity to go to my first Cleveland Indians Opening Day today. I tagged along with our friend Julie, Ed (her dad), and Larry (Ed's buddy) and had a great time! I only regret not taking a photo of Julie, Ed, and Larry…

I whittled the photos down, but decided to break it up into two posts: pregame and in-game.

The visiting Chicago White Sox are announced…

The Indians' mascot, Slider, greets the home team as they are announced…

…and some players got hugs…

The Indians paid tribute to legend Bob Feller, who passed away during the off-season.

Bob Feller's widow placed a ball with a message to him on the mound while all Indians wore #19 during pregame.

A giant Bob Feller #19 jersey hung in left field during pregame.

The Goodyear Blimp circled in the air all game.

It was cold, but this is not your standard baseball game attire…
