Yellow-chevroned parakeets

by Zach Evans December. 14, 2006 1931 views

Over the last couple weeks I've noticed a flock of yellow-chevroned parakeets making noise and happily tearing into the pods of the silk floss trees across the street from where I work. They're one of several species of tropical birds imported to California that have escaped from shipping crates and homes and established a small local population, living mostly off the fruits exotic trees in the backyards of wealthy people.
